The Department of Education and the Department of Defense signed a formal agreement committing to greater cooperation on education issues for military children at a formal event held at the Pentagon in June, 2008. The Memorandum of Understanding establishes working groups comprised of both agencies and educators from the public education system. These groups will seek ways to share information and resources focused on quality education and the special challenges military families face in deployment and frequent transition.
