Annual VA2K event scheduled for May 16

VA Northern Indiana will host the 2018 VA2K Walk & Roll event at multiple facilities May 16.
The VA2K focuses on promoting active lifestyles and provides VA employees, Veterans and community members the opportunity to enjoy a short two-kilometer (approximately 1.2 miles) walk.
The event focuses on helping homeless Veterans and is free to all participants. Those willing can bring donations of items such as pre-packaged food, bottled water or toiletries which will be donated to homeless Veterans in each local community. Donations are encouraged, but are not required to participate.
Each Northern Indiana facility will host an event, to include the medical centers at Fort Wayne (2121 Lake Avenue) and Marion (1700 E. 38th Street), the clinic in Mishawaka (1540 Trinity Place) and the community based outpatient clinics in Peru and Muncie. The run time is 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at each location, except Peru which will start at 11 a.m.
Since 2011 the annual VA2K event has generated donated goods valued at more than $2 million to help homeless Veterans.
In 2017, the VA2K Walk & Roll event had more than 23,000 VA employees, Veterans and community members in the event, and donated goods that had an estimated value of more than $289,000 for homeless Veterans.
